“Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday”
A friend of mine who years ago launched her own culinary blog, when I confessed to her that I too secretly wanted to start my own blog, told me to stop all the worrying over the content of my first post. She said “Just do it! If you post something you are interested in, your friends and followers will find it interesting too.” That was back in 2010, so clearly I didn’t take her very sage advice- until a couple of weeks ago.
There is soooo much to read online out there- fact, fiction, news, fake news….you name it, its out there in quantities I can’t even begin to get my arms around. I wonder how anyone even has the time these days to read any of it, let alone repost via social media and comment on it. But worrying about how to compete with all the stories out there will not get anyone anywhere, so I’m going to do my best now to take the kind and wise words of my friend to heart, and just start climbing this unknown mountain path without thinking too much about what might or might not be up at the top after the hike.
There are many blogs that inspire me in so many different ways. They motivate me to think more, create more and believe more- in myself, and in the benefits that such exploration and experimentation would bring. I would like to share a few of my favorites here with you (there are so many more but I’ve got to start somewhere!) and hope you find time to take a look at them too.
Those close to me know of my love for jewelry and jewelry making; its one of the top outlets for my creative side. I took a class years ago from this amazing local jeweler and teacher, and continue to be an ardent fan of her style and her work: http://katerichbourg.blogspot.com.
Another way I like to get creative is to bake. My go to item to bake is cookies, and decorating sugar cookies is an art form in itself. The most amazing blog on baking and decorating cookies is authored by Bridget Edwards, and you can learn as much as I did and more by checking her out: http://bakeat350.blogspot.com. I also love to find out what Joy is up to. Try any one of her recipes, and you’ll see why she’s at the top of my favorites: http://joythebaker.com.
My love of photography has me hooked on looking at the pictures on this photo journal filled with images centered around water, board sports and travel . I’ve always been fascinated with the beach, surfing and skateboarding and if you are too, you will love visiting this one:
One of my top 5 favorite places to shop has got to be Target. I mean where else can you go and find everything you need at a price you can afford, and at the same time shop in an environment that manages to stay cutting edge new and stylish in the fashion and home goods departments while appealing to the masses? A couple of talented and creative young moms started up a fun and time saving blog that works as your own Target stylist; check it out before you stop by there:
And for an up to date peek a little bit of everything, the HoneycrispCA blog covers food, travel, style and crafting with such a fresh take on it all. I love it and you will too:http://www.honeycrispca.com.
Happy trails- I hope you will take the time today to enjoy these online destinations as much as I do!
